Happy Earth Day from AST CCRC

This spring, Analytical Services at CCRC has been participating in a UGA 2022 Campus Sustainability Grant project whose goals are to divert lab waste by at least 65%, evaluate plastic use, and promote a low-waste/circular economy approach in UGA research. The project, Full Circle: Minimization & Diversion of Waste in UGA Research Laboratories, is ran by Lily Birx, a UGA Chemistry Ph.D. Candidate, in conjunction with UGA Green Labs. Members of Analytical Services have been attending meetings on how to implement sustainable procurement,  learning ways to reduce waste, and are actively participating in the diversion of their lab’s waste from landfill. So far, they have achieved an average diversion rate of 76% resulting in 215 lbs of lab waste being diverted from landfill. By participating in this project, Analytical Services is one of the most “Green Labs” on UGA’s campus!
