1.  Two Research Technician positions

Research Description

The Analytical Service and Training Laboratory (ASTL) at the University of Georgia’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center is seeking two experienced and motivated Research Technicians to join our team. Our work involves structural characterization of complex and polysaccharides and glycoproteins from plant, bacteria and animal sources using a combination of techniques including NMR, mass spectrometry, SPR and HPLC. This position will involve isolation and purification of glycans and performing structural analysis plant and microbial polysaccharides by derivatization and GCMS and HPLC techniques. This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to collaborate with scientist from universities, research institutes and industry for the structural characterization studies. 

Requirements:

  • B.SC or MSc with strong motivation and a background in chemistry, biology or biochemistry or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of laboratory experience with HPLC and GCMS
  • A team player who thrives to work in a large collaborative scientific environment

2.  Postdoctoral Research Position in NMR

Research Description

The Analytical Service and Training Laboratory (ASTL) at the University of Georgia’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center is looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our growing team. Our work combines 1D and 2D NMR and mass spectrometry tools to elucidate the structure of complex polysaccharides and glycoproteins from plant, bacteria and animal sources. This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to collaborate with scientist from universities, research institutes and industry using various analytical techniques for structural characterization. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics or a related discipline. Extensive background in biomolecular NMR or NMR method development is required. Our projects will include using a combination of techniques for isolation and purification of complex glycans prior to characterization by NMR and MS techniques.

3.  Senior Research Associate Position  

Research Description

The Analytical Service and Training Laboratory (ASTL) at the University of Georgia’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Professional to join our team. Our work involves structural characterization of complex polysaccharides, glycolipids and glycoproteins from plant, bacteria and animal sources using a combination of techniques including NMR, mass spectrometry, SPR and HPLC. This position will involve performing analytical services on carbohydrates using various analytical methods glycomics and glycoproteomics, and laboratory management, routine maintenance LCMS instruments and waste management of chemicals. This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to collaborate with scientist from universities, research institutes and industry for the structural characterization studies.

Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD with strong motivation and a background in chemistry, biology or biochemistry or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 1-2 years laboratory experience with glycoprotein or glycolipid analysis is desired
  • A team player who thrives to work in a large collaborative scientific environment

This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to collaborate with scientist from universities, research institutes and industry for the structural characterization studies.
